The Story of Margaret Ellen Bridal

My name is Maggie Matthews. I am Mississippi raised, the mother of Deaton and Ella Compton, the wife of Tyler, and a girl that has been in love with wedding dresses since I was a little girl.

It all began when I was a young, elementary student who dreamed of becoming a wedding gown designer after watching the Parent Trap numerous times. My mother, Barbara, a lifelong educator and counselor bought me my first sewing machine and set out to teach me the lessons of sewing. Time passed, and I quickly grew older and was faced with the decision of a career choice. Having both of my parents in the field of education and my love for kids, I chose to major in elementary education. After six years of being an educator, I realized that the classroom was not where I belonged. I was in prayer for years that God would lead me to a profession where I would be completely satisfied - one in which I could begin each morning with excitement; one that would give me independence; one that would bring me happiness and fulfillment; and one that would help others.

The dream of opening and running a bridal boutique came when I went wedding dress shopping with my best friend, four years after I went shopping for my own wedding gown. I knew quickly that I wanted to offer brides an experience that I didn’t have. Now, five years after opening the doors to this sweet, little boutique I have realized that there is so much more to this. While the experience is greatly a focus, it is the relationships that are built within these walls that is my true “why”. Those relationships start while searching for that perfect white dress and lasts way beyond the wedding day. At Margaret Ellen Bridal, brides truly become friends. Together with my mom, Barbara, we have worked hard to bring the dream to life to provide the most personal and celebrated day for each girl who becomes a #margaretellenbride.
